KolourPaint Tutorial

What is KolourPaint?
KolourPaint is a Free, raster graphic editor by KDE, similar to Microsoft's Paint application before Windows 7.
It aims to be conceptually simple to understand, providing a level of functionality targeted towards the average user. KolourPaint is designed for daily tasks such as:
  • Painting: drawing diagrams and "finger painting"
  • Image Manipulation: editing screenshots and photos; applying effects
  • Icon Editing: drawing clipart and logos with transparency

How to Get KolourPaint Application?
KolourPaint can be installed in Unix-Like and Windows operating system. It easy to install, you need a computer device with that operating system and a internet connection for downloading KolourPaint application.
I will explain how to install KolourPaint application in Ubuntu 10.04 operating system because I use this operating system in my device. The steps are:
  1. Open Application menu in main window, then choose Ubuntu Software Center. You will see this display:
  2. Choose Graphics option
  3. Choose Painting & Editing option and you will see this display. Look at this picture!
  4. Find KolourPaint name in option lists, then click on KolourPaint. You will press Install button if you want to install.
  5. Please wait for installing process
  6. After you finish this install, please open Applications menu in main window and choose Graphics option. You will see KolourPaint application option if it have been installed. Click that application to start a new worksheet and you can get this work display.

 I have explanation about some KolourPaint features. Maybe it can help the users for operating this application.
  1. Selection (Rectangular): To selects layer with rectangular selection line.
  2. Text: To apply text.
  3. Pen: To make free lines as same as pen texture.
  4. Brush: To make free lines as same as brush texture.
  5. Spraycan: To fill colours as same as spray texture.
  6. Rectangle: To make rectangle shapes.
  7. Ellipse: To make ellipse shapes 
  8. Curve: To make curve lines 
  9. Line: To make straight lines 
  10. Eraser: To erase lines and colours 
  11. Flood Fill: To fill a colour into any area where it limited by margin lines. 
  12. Color Eraser: To erase wrong colours 
  13. Rounded Rectangle: To make rectangle shapes with curve corners 
  14. Connected Lines: To make lines which it can connecting
